Frank de Boer "open" to taking Newcastle United job in the summer

Frank de Boer says that there is "a chance" he will take over at Newcastle United, should the club be willing to wait until the summer.

Ajax head coach Frank de Boer has revealed that he would be "open" to joining Newcastle United, but not until the end of the current season.

The Dutchman has been approached to take over at both Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool in the past couple of years, although he opted against leaving his current employers.

However, having been touted as a potential replacement for Alan Pardew at St James' Park, De Boer has refused to rule out a switch to the Premier League in the near future.

"I have everything open," he is quoted as saying by The Guardian when asked specifically about the vacant job on Tyneside. "But I will be ready that's for sure. I only said if they asked I don't go now because I am with Ajax and I don't want to go halfway through a season while also stepping into a team that are already halfway too.

"So, for me, if there will be a chance it is always in the new season."

John Carver is currently in caretaker charge of the Magpies, with reports suggesting that former Real Madrid boss Bernd Schuster is also in line to take over permanently.
