Former Lyon coach Remi Garde has been tipped as the favourite for the vacant Newcastle United job following reports that he is due to undergo an interview for the role.
The Frenchman will hold discussions about potentially replacing Alan Pardew at St James' Park over the next few days, according to The Mirror.
Magpies caretaker boss John Carver will be in charge for this weekend's Premier League meeting with Chelsea, and is said to have been told that there is a chance of him overseeing their next match against Southampton.
Other candidates for the Newcastle job include Frank De Boer and Christophe Galtier, while Derby County boss Steve McClaren recently ruled himself out of the running.
Carver has expressed interest in taking the job on a permanent basis and is believed to be willing to hold it on an interim basis until the summer to prove his worth.
