Newcastle United defender Massadio Haidara believes that he and his teammates have the ability to finish in the top 10 of the Premier League next season.

Newcastle United defender Massadio Haidara believes that the club have the ability to finish in the top half of the Premier League next season.

The 20-year-old joined the Magpies in January from Nancy and made the headlines after he was on the receiving end of a bad challenge from Wigan Athletic's Callum McManaman.

Haidara spent time on the injury table following the tackle and watched as the Magpies barely escaped relegation to the Championship, eventually finishing 16th.

"For me personally, there were some good times and some other times where I felt I could have done better, looking back," Haidara told the club's official website.

"In terms of the team, we can really aspire to finish in the top half and then push on from there.

"If you look at each individual player in their position, we have got some fantastic quality."

Haidara made eight appearances for the Magpies last season in all competitions.
