Newcastle United boss Steve McClaren has described new signing Georginio Wijnaldum as the "right fit" for the club.
The Dutch international midfielder joined the Magpies from PSV Eindhoven on Saturday for around £15m.
McClaren is confident that Wijnaldum, 24, will be a success at St James' Park.
"The signing is a real statement for the club," he told Newcastle's official website. "It is a big transfer for a very good player and I am delighted to have Gini here. He is the right age and the right fit for Newcastle.
"Gini has developed into a player who is a regular for his country, he played at the World Cup last summer and has become a very good, all-round midfielder. He is a leader as well and you will see that. He is someone who always wants the ball, can deal with it, and we need that kind of character in the team."
Wijnaldum has scored three goals in 19 appearances for the Netherlands.
