Newcastle United striker Nile Ranger has been fined £6,000 by the Football Association following homophobic remarks that he made on Twitter.
Walsall's Manny Smith has also been fined £1,200 by the Association.
"Newcastle United's Nile Ranger and Walsall's Manny Smith have been fined £6,000 and £1,200 respectively and both warned as to their future conduct after each admitting a charge of using abusive and/or insulting words including a reference to a person's sexual orientation," read an FA statement.
"The charges relate to Twitter comments and both players requested a paper hearing."
Queens Park Rangers striker Federico Macheda was also charged by English football's governing body, although no details of his case were released.
