Pardew not ready for England job

Alan Pardew has distanced himself from the vacant manager's job with England.

Although Harry Redknapp and Roy Hodgson are tipped as the favourites to take over from Fabio Capello, Pardew has been considered by many as an outsider for the role.

Despite admitting that he would like to be considered by the Three Lions one day, the Newcastle United boss has insisted that he is nowhere near ready to manage his country.

"I can completely distance myself because it is not the right time for me," Pardew told talkSPORT. "I haven't won a trophy, I haven't done anything in the game that suggests I should be the England manager.

"Hopefully at some stage in my career I like to think that I'd be in the mix for that, but not now.

"It's Roy Hodgson and Harry Redknapp and I think those two candidates would be absolutely superb for England."

Pardew was talking after he had guided Newcastle to a 2-0 win over Liverpool at the Sports Direct Arena.
