Preview: Newcastle United vs. Bournemouth - predictions, team news, lineups

Sports Mole previews the Premier League clash between Newcastle United and Bournemouth, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

Newcastle United will be hoping for a positive result to push them further away from the relegation zone when Bournemouth visit in their next game.

The Cherries had been looking a little off-colour but grabbed a morale-boosting 1-0 win over Manchester United last time out, and will be looking to take the momentum from that game forward as they aim for a top-half finish.

Newcastle's form has picked up of late after a poor start to the season that saw the Magpies pick up just one win from their first eight games across all competitions.

Steve Bruce's side have picked up seven points from their last four Premier League games since the start of October, kicked off by a 1-0 win over Manchester United.

Their last result prior to this solid run was a 5-0 thumping by Leicester City after going down to 10 men, a result that appeared to consign Newcastle to their fate of battling away in the relegation zone for the rest of the campaign.

However, the Magpies now find themselves four points clear of the dropzone and will be hoping to climb further up the standings with another positive result.

They face a Bournemouth side that have been quietly impressive so far this season, however, and find themselves seventh in the table.

The Cherries have lost just three league games this season, being beaten by Manchester City, Arsenal and Leicester City - all teams that are above them in the table.

Eddie Howe's side had been on a frustrating run of four games without a win until their victory over United, however, and they will hope to kick on from that result now.

Bournemouth, often criticised for their defending, have also registered three clean sheets on the bounce - their first three in the Premier League all season.

Team News

Newcastle boss Bruce is without Sean Longstaff through suspension and has a handful of players battling to be fit in time for this clash.

Fabian Schar and Matt Ritchie both appear to be in with a chance of featuring against the Cherries, but Florian Lejeune is likely to be given the international break to fully recover.

Howe remains without long-term absentees Charlie Daniels and Junior Stanislas, both of whom are recovering from surgery.

The Bournemouth boss is also unable to call on Andrew Surman, who is being rested to recover from an injury, and Jefferson Lerma, who is suspended.

David Brooks and Dan Gosling were both scheduled to return for this game when they initially suffered their injuries, but they are very unlikely to be risked with the opportunity to rest them over an international break just around the corner.

Newcastle United possible starting lineup:
Dubravka; Yedlin, Fernandez, Lascelles, Clark, Willems; Almiron, Hayden, Shelvey, Saint-Maximin; Joelinton

Bournemouth possible starting lineup:
Ramsdale; Smith, S. Cook, Ake, Rico; H. Wilson, L. Cook, Billing, Fraser; King; C. Wilson

We say: Newcastle United 1-2 Bournemouth

Newcastle are on a solid run, but Bournemouth have yet to lose to a side below them in the table and could have just a little too much quality for the Magpies.
