Jack Colback, Jamie Sterry 'free to leave Newcastle United'

Newcastle United are reportedly prepared to allow both Jack Colback and Jamie Sterry to leave St James' Park during the January transfer window.

Jack Colback and Jamie Sterry have reportedly been told that they can leave Newcastle United during the January transfer window.

Magpies boss Rafael Benitez will try to make changes to his first-team squad for the second half of the campaign. but the Spaniard must raise funds to push through more deals.

According to The Mirror, Benitez is happy to allow both Colback and Sterry to find new clubs before the end of the month.

Colback has fallen out of favour at St James' Park, with the 28-year-old having not made an appearance since the final game of last season.

Sunderland have been linked with a move for the versatile player, while Sterry is expected to link up with a Championship side on a five-month loan deal.

The defender - who spent the second half of the last campaign at Coventry City - has not featured since the EFL Cup tie with Nottingham Forest in August.
