Newcastle United are reportedly one of several Premier League sides that are interested in signing Sheffield United defender Anel Ahmedhodzic.
The Magpies currently hold the best defensive record in the top flight, conceding just 19 goals in 26 league matches this season.
Despite boasting a strong backline, Newcastle could decide to strengthen their defence in the summer transfer window.
Defender Jamaal Lascelles is set to leave the club when his contract expires in June, while the prospect of European football will encourage Newcastle to add strength in depth.
According to Football League World, Newcastle are among a number of Premier League clubs that are keeping tabs on Ahmedhodzic.

The centre-back, who joined the Blades from Swedish outfit Malmo last summer, has made 33 competitive appearances this season, contributing four goals and two assists.
Ahmedhodzic has also started 26 of his 29 league appearances this season, while he has featured in four matches of Sheffield United's run to the FA Cup sem-finals.
Newcastle are not the only team keeping tabs on Ahmedhozic, though, with Aston Villa, Leicester City and Wolverhampton Wanderers all showing an interest in the defender.
With Sheffield United currently sitting in second place in the Championship table with 11 games to go, there is a real possibility that they could be playing Premier League football next season.

However, there is a belief that securing a promotion may not be enough to prevent Ahmedhozic from leaving Bramall Lane this summer.
With Ahmedhozic under contract until June 2026, Sheffield United would certainly be in a strong position in any transfer negotiations.
The 24-year-old recently revealed that he would like to play for Manchester City in the future after growing up watching his compatriot Edin Dzeko play for the Citizens.
Ahmedhodzic has made 20 appearances for Bosnia & Herzegovina, and he recently played every minute of their two Euro 2024 qualifiers against Iceland and Slovakia.
