Newcastle United linked with Lyon starlet Myziane Maolida

A report claims that Lyon youngster Myziane Maolida is wanted by Newcastle United, with discussions between the two clubs currently ongoing.

Newcastle United have been tipped to push through a deal for Lyon starlet Myziane Maolida before the transfer window closes next week.

The Magpies are said to be locked in discussions with the Ligue 1 side for the signing of Maolida, who impressed scouts at the Euro-19s European Championships with France.

Having landed Reo Griffiths from Tottenham Hotspur, L'Equipe reports that Lyon are open to selling Maolida, and Newcastle hope to get a transfer over the line before next Thursday.

United have so far brought in Yoshinori Muto, Fabian Schar, Ki Sung-yeung and Martin Dubravka this summer, with the lack of activity leaving boss Rafael Benitez frustrated.

Benitez's men have also been linked with a move for Paris Saint-Germain youngster Stanley N'Soki.
