Newcastle United are reportedly contemplating whether to make an approach for Everton forward Dominic Calvert-Lewin in January.

Newcastle United are reportedly open to the possibility of signing Everton forward Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Ever since their well-documented takeover and the arrival of Eddie Howe, the Magpies have been on an upward trajectory which has included a return to the Champions League.

However, a wide array of injuries have made it increasingly difficult for them to build on last season's achievements in 2023-24, with Newcastle entering the November international break with defeats to Borussia Dortmund and Bournemouth.

Although the North East outfit will be restricted by FFP, they have every intention of doing business at the midway point of the campaign.

While a new central midfielder to replace the banned Sandro Tonali is a priority, reports have began to suggest that another attack-minded player could be on Howe's radar.

In the past, Howe has shown a preference for acquiring versatile players, a strategy that has paid off, yet it appears that consideration may be given to securing the services of another centre-forward.

According to TEAMtalk, club officials are ready to weigh up whether it is possible to sign Calvert-Lewin in 2024.

The England international is currently enjoying a productive campaign with the Toffees, scoring four goals and, more notably, making nine starts and two substitute outings after a number of fitness issues.

Such has been his impact back in the starting lineup that Sean Dyche will not want to part ways with the 26-year-old, yet Everton's financial predicament makes it a possibility.

Last week, Everton were handed a 10-point penalty for breaching the Premier League's Profit and Sustainability regulations, highlighting their ongoing issues with FFP.

Furthermore, Calvert-Lewin has just over 19 months remaining on his contract, and a decision will soon need to be made by both player and club with regards to his future.

Although the report says that Calvert-Lewin is in no rush to leave a club that he has represented on 220 occasions, there will naturally be interest as long as he remains fit.

Regardless of whether Calvert-Lewin becomes a realistic option, Newcastle are said to be ready to bolster their options in the final third in January.
