Newcastle United’s interest in Scott Brown has reportedly been rekindled following Kevin Nolan’s move to West Ham.
Celtic’s Brown was previously linked to a £6m move to St James’ Park but he distanced himself from the prospect, insisting that he was happy at his current club.
“I’m captain of Celtic Football Club. Why would I even think about going anywhere else?” he told The Daily Record. “I have a hunger to win more trophies as Celtic captain so that I can look back at my time at the club and consider myself to be a success.”
However, Alan Pardew is now considering a renewed approach, Metro claims.
Reports earlier this week suggested that Turkish club Bursaspor are also among the midfielder’s admirers, although Parkhead manager Neil Lennon is thought to be keen to retain his services.
The 25-year-old joined Celtic from Hibernian in 2007 for £4.4m.
