Newcastle United have resumed talks over signing Bayern Leverkusen's Mitchel Bakker, according to a report.
The Magpies have been searching for a left-back throughout the transfer window, with both Lucas Digne and Robin Gosens having been major targets that opted to sign for other clubs.
While Eddie Howe was able to bring Kieran Trippier into his squad, on top of signing Chris Wood, there are still further additions that the Premier League outfit are attempting to secure.
According to 90min, Newcastle have now resumed conversations with Bayer Leverkusen over Bakker, despite the fact that they had cooled their interest on Monday, as the club felt the defender did not want to leave.
However, things have shifted once again and the potential transfer seems to be back on, with the German outfit hoping for around £16.6m in order to sell him to the Magpies.
If Newcastle are able to get the deal over the line, Bakker could be in contention to play on February 8 when they face Everton in a crucial Premier League game.
