Newcastle United have reportedly triggered the release clause for Hull City midfielder Mohamed Diame.
According to Sky Sports News, a fee of around £4.5m has been agreed between the two parties for the 29-year-old, who scored the winning goal in May's Championship playoff final to propel the Tigers back into the top flight.
Newcastle manager Rafael Benitez is thought to view Diame as an ideal replacement for Moussa Sissoko, who has been linked with a £35m move away from the North-East.
The impending loss of Diame is just the latest headache for Hull, who are still without a manager following Steve Bruce's resignation last month.
Last week Diame said of Bruce: "Everyone is really sad because the manager was an important person for us all. He looked after us like a father, to be honest, and to see him go is really sad."
Diame has 50 league appearances and 13 goals to his name during his time at the KC Stadium.
