Newcastle reportedly open talks over the transfer of four Ligue 1 players, including strikers Pierre Aubameyang and Jeremie Aliadiere.

Alan Pardew will reportedly return to the French transfer market in a bid to bolster his Newcastle United squad in January.

The Magpies, who have recruited Yohan Cabaye, Sylvain Marveaux and Mathieu Debuchy from France over the past 18 months, have apparently made enquiries for a quartet of Ligue 1 players.

Saint-Etienne striker Pierre Aubameyang is understood to be Pardew's number one target after he missed out on Marseille forward Loic Remy, who is instead poised to join Queens Park Rangers.

If he fails to bring in the £7m-rated Gabon international, the Newcastle boss is considering a bid for Lorient frontman Jeremie Aliadiere, formerly of Arsenal.

It emerged on Tuesday that an offer has been lodged for Nancy full-back Massadio Haidara, while Montpellier central defender Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa completes Pardew's wishlist, according to The Metro.
