Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew wants to keep hold of Cheick Tiote

Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew says that he would like to see midfielder Cheick Tiote remain at the club.

Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew has stated that he would like to keep midfielder Cheick Tiote at the club.

The 27-year-old has reportedly attracted the interest of Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini after a string of impressive displays this season.

Pardew believes that the Ivory Coast international has rediscovered his best form.

"He's been terrific this year. He's back to his very best," Soccerway quotes Pardew as saying.

"I would put him in our top three of the year. Certainly, since I gave him the armband he has been outstanding for us. He'll be somebody we are very keen to keep at this football club."

Tiote joined Newcastle from FC Twente in 2010.
