Newcastle United have reportedly prepared a new five-year contract for French winger Hatem Ben Arfa amid speculation regarding his future at the club.
The 26-year-old has recently been the subject of attention from Liverpool and Monaco but, according to The Journal, he is keen to stay at St James' Park.
It is believed that talks between Joe Kinnear and manager Alan Pardew have resulted in a new contract for the Frenchman being made a top priority, while directors Lee Charnley and John Irving will handle negotiations in the wake of Derek Llambias's departure.
Ben Arfa has been a star performer for the Magpies, despite being hampered by injuries since his permanent move from Marseille two years ago. Talks are expected to begin next week.
