Newcastle United boss Steve Bruce is reportedly keen for his club to resolve the future of midfielder Jonjo Shelvey as soon as possible.
The 27-year-old, who has been with the Magpies since January 2016, will see his current deal at St James' Park expire next summer.
Shelvey has developed into a key player for Newcastle this term, scoring four times in his last seven Premier League appearances.
According to The Telegraph, the midfielder's future is one of Bruce's priorities, with the manager showing his faith in the Englishman by handing him the captain's armband in the absence of Jamaal Lascelles.
The report also claims that West Ham United have a 'long-standing interest' in the former Charlton Athletic youngster, who has been capped on six occasions by the Three Lions.
Newcastle are currently ninth in the Premier League table, just four points off fourth-placed Chelsea.
