New BME boss plans to increase number of black football coaches

The FA's new Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic boss Wayne Allison hopes to boost the number of black football coaches working in England.

The Football Association's new Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic boss Wayne Allison has devised a plan to increase the number of black coaches working in England.

Only six BME coaches work within the country's top four divisions, but Allison hopes to boost that number across the next five years.

"The rate of change has not gone as quickly as possible," BBC Sport quotes Allison as saying. "Football authorities working in silos hasn't worked, so if it's a co-ordinated and unified process I think we have a chance of moving things forward more quickly."

In a £1.4m initiative, Allison will try to get the Premier League, Football League, Professional Footballers' Association and League Managers' Association working together to tackle the problem.
