UEFA have announced that up to 13 cities across the continent will host games at Euro 2020.
The decision was made by executive committee in Lausanne, Switzerland, with the Football Association already putting Wembley forward as a possible venue.
As a result, Turkey's bid to be the tournament's sole host has failed.
"Some important decisions have been taken," said UEFA general secretary Gianni Infantino.
"UEFA Euro 2020 will be staged across the continent, in various major cities, following a decision taken today. A Euro for Europe follows an initial idea by Uefa president Michel Platini.
"The response has been extremely positive from all the national associations."
The number of host cities has yet to be decided, while the bidding process will start in March and last until spring 2014.
