Former Italy Under-21s international Piermario Morosini died after suffering a cardiac arrest during Livorno's Serie B encounter with Pescara this afternoon.

The 25-year-old collapsed in the 31st minute of the match, before being rushed to the Santo Spirito Hospital where he was placed into medically induced coma.

However, despite the efforts of the medical staff, Morosini never regained consciousness.
