Premier League reveals referee appointments

The Premier League reveals which referees will take charge of this weekend's opening fixtures in the top flight.

The Premier League has announced which referees will take charge of this weekend's opening fixtures.

Mike Dean will officiate Louis van Gaal's first competitive match as Manchester United manager against Swansea City, while Chris Foy is due to oversee Tottenham Hotspur's trip to West Ham United.

Jonathan Moss has been handed Arsenal's home tie against Crystal Palace, and Martin Atkinson is to referee Newcastle United's visit of champions Manchester City.

It is the first time since 2003 that Howard Webb's name has not been on the roster of Premier League referees. The 43-year-old recently retired in order to become technical director of Professional Game Match Officials Limited.

Referee appointments for the opening weekend of Premier League fixtures

Manchester United vs. Swansea City - Mike Dean
Leicester City vs. Everton - Mike Jones
Queens Park Rangers vs. Hull City - Craig Pawson
Stoke City vs. Aston Villa - Anthony Taylor
West Bromwich Albion vs. Sunderland - Neil Swarbrick
West Ham United vs. Tottenham Hotspur - Chris Foy
Arsenal vs. Crystal Palace - Jonathan Moss

August 17:
Liverpool vs. Southampton - Mark Clattenburg
Newcastle United vs. Manchester City - Martin Atkinson

August 18:
Burnley vs. Chelsea - Michael Oliver
