Sunday's Ligue 1 predictions including Nice vs. Marseille

Sports Mole provides score predictions for all of Sunday's Ligue 1 fixtures, including Nice vs. Marseille.

Lyon vs. Clermont (Sunday, 12.00pm)

Early Ligue 1 pace setters Clermont will aim to record their third successive win of the 2021-22 season when they travel to Lyon for Sunday lunchtime's encounter.

The newly-promoted side beat another former Ligue 2 outfit in Troyes 2-0 last week, whereas Lyon slumped to a dismal 3-0 defeat at Angers.

We say: Lyon 2-1 Clermont

As eye-catching as Clermont's start to the season has been, the calibre of their opponents - newly-promoted Troyes and a Bordeaux side in disarray - must be taken into account before a trip to Lyon.

The hosts have certainly not lived up to expectations and have their own issues going on behind the scenes, but we still have confidence in the Les Gones' ability to kickstart their season at the third attempt with a narrow win.

Our tipster partners are predicting over 1.5 goals.

Bordeaux vs. Angers (Sunday, 2.00pm)

Bordeaux welcome the league leaders to the Nouveau Stade de Bordeaux on Sunday afternoon and, surprisingly, after two rounds of games that is Angers.

The visitors have enjoyed a perfect start to the new season, whilst their hosts will be looking to build some momentum after two mixed results.

We say: Bordeaux 1-1 Angers

Results have been mixed in recent meetings between the two teams - with two wins each and one draw - and we can see Angers retaining an unbeaten start to the season but potentially not having quite enough to keep their 100% record.

Our tipster partners are predicting over 1.5 goals.

Metz vs. Reims (Sunday, 2.00pm)

Metz and Reims meet at the Stade Saint-Symphorien on Sunday afternoon, with both teams currently winless in the first two games of the new Ligue 1 season.

The hosts have picked up just one point from their opening two games, while Reims have drawn both outings so far.

We say: Metz 1-1 Reims

Reims have never managed to beat Metz at Stade Saint-Symphorien - four losses and six draws in 10 matches - and looking at both teams' displays at the beginning of the new campaign, the draw appears the most likely outcome.

Our tipster partners are predicting over 1.5 goals.

Montpellier vs. Lorient (Sunday, 2.00pm)

Montpellier HSC welcome Lorient to the Stade de la Mosson on Sunday afternoon in the new Ligue 1 season's third round of games.

The visitors face one of the toughest early-season schedules, but currently find themselves six places above their next opponents in the league table.

We say: Montpellier HSC 2-2 Lorient

As mentioned, Lorient will be full of confidence coming into this game, but they are not generally good travellers. They managed just one win on the road last season and suffered 11 defeats, so an away win will be a big ask, especially considering the undeniable talent in the Montpellier ranks.

Our tipster partners are predicting over 1.5 goals.

Strasbourg vs. Troyes (Sunday, 2.00pm)

Strasbourg take on Troyes at Stade de la Meinau on Sunday afternoon in what is a clash between Ligue 1's bottom two sides as things stand.

In fairness to the two teams, they have each faced Paris Saint-Germain in one of their first two games - where they would not truly be expected to come away with points - but both will be determined to get their seasons up and running.

We say: Strasbourg 2-1 Troyes

Strasbourg have looked open at the back at times and Djiku's absence will give Troyes hope, but they have defensive issues of their own and home advantage has played a big role in the history of this match-up.

Our tipster partners are predicting over 1.5 goals.

Rennes vs. Nantes (Sunday, 4.00pm)

Still seeking their first win of the new Ligue 1 season, Rennes welcome Nantes to the Roazhon Park for Sunday afternoon's gameweek three battle in the Derby Breton.

The hosts have gleaned two points from clashes with Lens and Brest so far, whereas Nantes got off the mark for the new season with a 2-0 success against Metz last week.

We say: Rennes 0-0 Nantes

European fatigue coupled with two somewhat underwhelming draws in Ligue 1 is not exactly a formula for success for Rennes, although their home record and unbeaten streak against Nantes is there for all to see.

Genesio is evidently keen for his side to progress in the Conference League, whereas Nantes' league fortunes have improved drastically over the past few months, and we can see both sides cancelling each other out in a drab stalemate.

Our tipster partners are predicting a double chance bet on a home win or an away win.

Nice vs. Marseille (Sunday, 7.45pm)

Marseille manager Jorge Sampaoli pictured in March 2021© Reuters

Fresh from an emphatic 4-0 thrashing of champions Lille, Nice prepare for what should be a blockbuster affair against Marseille at the Allianz Riviera on Sunday evening.

While Christophe Galtier witnessed his players produce a near-perfect performance against his former club, Marseille could only muster a 2-2 draw with Bordeaux in gameweek two.

We say: Nice 2-2 Marseille

Goals are almost always guaranteed when these two sides do battle, and given their respective starts to the new season, we cannot envisage anything different here.

Marseille will certainly not prove to be as profligate as Lille in front of goal, and with attacking talent aplenty in both XIs, a high-scoring stalemate could be on the cards.

Our tipster partners are predicting over 1.5 goals.
