Claude Puel: '10-man Nice stayed united in win over Marseille'

Nice coach Claude Puel praises his team for remaining united as they overcame Marseille 2-1 in Ligue 1 despite finishing with 10 men at the Allianz Riviera.

Nice coach Claude Puel has hailed his 10-man side for remaining united as they beat title-chasing Marseille 2-1 at the Allianz Riviera in Ligue 1 on Friday.

Goals from Romain Genevois and Niklas Hult were enough to override an effort from Florian Thauvin in a match in which Nice defender Kevin Gomis was sent off after collecting two bookings within the space of three minutes.

"It was a very good game with a lot of intensity, even if there were still too many mistakes," said Puel, according to the official Ligue 1 website.

"We can bring the ball out better, but we put in a lot of effort and pressed well, particularly the attacking players, and as soon as we could, we did things with the ball.

"It's a shame not to have capitalised earlier in the first half, because we had good chances. But we stayed united even when we went down to ten men. Some people will no doubt say Marseille had an off-day, but it doesn't matter."

The win leaves Nice sitting in ninth position in the Ligue 1 standings.
