Laszlo Kleinheisler has given Hungary a 1-0 lead against Norway in Thursday's Euro 2016 playoff first leg at the Ullevaal Stadion in Oslo.
The hosts were first to threaten when, in the fourth minute, Per Skjelbred latched on to a precise pass and fired towards the roof of the net, but Gabor Kiraly pulled off an acrobatic save to thwart his opponent.
Five minutes later Hungary nearly broke the deadlock through Kleinheisler, though his attempt from close range ended up in the gloves of Orjan Nyland.
The visitors continued to press and were rewarded in the 26th minute when Kleinheisler controlled an incisive pass on the edge of the box and curled the ball inside the left post to give his side the lead.
Per-Mathias Hogmo's charges set about trying to restore parity and came close on a number of occasions, most notably through Alexander Soderlund's low drive just after the half-hour mark.
However, Kiraly was once again equal to it, and Bernd Storck's side held on until the half-time whistle to maintain their lead at the break.
