Paul Lambert: 'Friendlies are irrelevant'

Norwich City manager Paul Lambert has said that he won't get carried away by his side's pre-season form.

The Canaries defeated Serie A outfit Parma 3-0 at Carrow Road yesterday afternoon courtesy of a brace from Andrew Surman and a strike from captain Grant Holt.

"The result is irrelevant, it's how we played, and hopefully we're ready," Lambert told the club's official website.

"I don't read too much into it, regarding results. It's nice to win, but it's not the be all and end all.

"I'm sick of [friendlies] if truth be known. I never liked them as a player and I don't like them as a manager."

Norwich's opening Premier League fixture is a trip to Wigan Athletic next Saturday.
