John Ruddy says that Chris Hughton can continue Norwich City's progression.

Norwich City goalkeeper John Ruddy has backed new manager Chris Hughton to be a hit at Carrow Road.

Hughton became the new Canaries boss after former chief Paul Lambert left to take over the vacant managerial role at Aston Villa.

The Scot left Norfolk after three successful years in charge, but Ruddy is sure that Hughton can also be a success with the club.

"Chris is a really nice guy to work for and has brought a fantastic backroom staff with him as well," Ruddy said.

"We need to maintain the same levels, regardless of whether the old manager stayed or not. The new boss coming in now might even help us with that 'second-season syndrome', because we all need to impress him.

"We have got a very solid squad, now we have to raise it that extra step."

Ruddy signed a new four-year deal with Norwich earlier this summer.
