Preview: Bournemouth vs. Norwich City - prediction, team news, lineups

Sports Mole previews Sunday's Championship game between Bournemouth and Norwich City, including team news and predicted lineups.

Bournemouth and Norwich City square off at the Vitality Stadium on Sunday afternoon with both clubs looking to extend their unbeaten start in the Championship.

The Cherries and Canaries, who were both relegated from the Premier League last season, have recorded four points from their opening two fixtures.

Despite Manchester City fielding a much-changed starting lineup, Bournemouth boss Jason Tindall would have been pessimistic regarding his team's chances ahead of Thursday's EFL Cup tie.

The newly-appointed manager ended up being pleasantly surprised, however, as his own unfamiliar side pushed the Premier League giants all the way before losing out by a 2-1 scoreline.

Although Tindall may enter the transfer market before the end of the summer window, his younger crop are showing positive signs with regards to making the step up to senior level.

Providing that they can avoid more high-profile sales, the Cherries are in a good position to build on four points being collected from games against Blackburn Rovers and Middlesbrough.

Head coach Daniel Farke will feel that his Norwich squad are in similar shape as the club also looks to keep hold of the majority of their star men.

The German will have to shed numbers at Carrow Road after being given the licence to be proactive in the transfer market, but he will want to ensure that Jamal Lewis is the solitary big-name exit.

There would have been a feeling of disappointment after only recording a 2-2 draw at home to Preston North End last Saturday, despite requiring a late goal to earn a share of the spoils.

Nevertheless, the result has kept Norwich ticking over in the right direction at a time when only three clubs have managed to maintain a 100% record from two games played.

Team News

Farke will be without Kieran Dowell for the next three months after the Norwich playmaker suffered an ankle ligament injury last week.

Despite speculation regarding a potential transfer to Barcelona, Max Aarons is expected to keep his place at right-back.

Jack Simpson is likely to retain his spot in the first XI after Lloyd Kelly went off injured against Man City.

Dominic Solanke will come back into the team for Sam Surridge, who got on the scoresheet at the Etihad Stadium.

Bournemouth possible starting lineup:
Begovic; Stacey, Mepham, Cook, Simpson, Smith; Brooks, Lerma, Cook, Groenveld; Solanke

Norwich City possible starting lineup:
Krul; Aarons, Zimmermann, Godfrey, Quintilla; McLean, Skipp; Placheta, Cantwell, Hernandez, Pukki

We say: Bournemouth 1-1 Norwich City

With Bournemouth having gone up against Man City on Thursday evening, Norwich will feel that they have an edge in terms of energy levels. Nevertheless, the Cherries are impressing under Tindall, and we expect this encounter to end with both teams being relatively happy with a share of the spoils.
