Preview: Crystal Palace vs. Norwich City

Sports Mole previews Wednesday's Premier League clash between Crystal Palace and Norwich City.

Norwich City will attempt to end a run of four matches without a league win when they make the trip to fellow relegation strugglers Crystal Palace on New Year's Day.

The Eagles suffered a 1-0 defeat to Manchester City last time out, but have won two of their last five in the Premier League, with that run of form moving them into 17th position in the table.

Palace have won three of their nine league fixtures on their own patch this season, but have found the back of the net just seven times in front of their own supporters.

Norwich, meanwhile, have largely struggled on the road with just two wins from their nine matches, scoring six times and conceding 21 goals in the process.

Defeat to Manchester United last time out left the Canaries in 14th spot in the table, just three points outside of the relegation zone after 19 games of the season.

Remarkably, there are just six points separating basement side Sunderland from 13th-place Aston Villa and therefore three points become vital at this stage of the season.

The home side are expected to be without the services of forward Cameron Jerome, who picked up an injury against City at the weekend, meaning that Marouane Chamakh could come into the first XI.

Jonathan Williams and Dwight Gayle are also pushing for starts as boss Tony Pulis looks to freshen his squad following a difficult Christmas period.

Meanwhile, Norwich have no fresh injury concerns from the weekend, but Ricky van Wolfswinkel and Johan Elmander are both pushing for starts alongside top scorer Gary Hooper in attack.
