Norwich City pegged back in pre-season friendly draw at Wolfsburg

Norwich City wrap up their pre-season tour of Germany with a 1-1 draw against Wolfsburg as Josuha Guilavogui cancels out Onel Hernandez's opener in Barsinghausen.

Norwich City have wrapped up their pre-season tour of Germany with a 1-1 draw against Wolfsburg on Thursday afternoon.

The Canaries, who beat SC Paderborn 3-2 in their opening tour match before losing 2-1 to FC Union Berlin, began brightly in Barsinghausen and took the lead after just six minutes.

Norwich mounted an attack as the ball was worked to Tom Trybull on the edge of the box, who in turn set up Onel Hernandez to slot low into the far corner of the Wolfsburg net.

The visitors continued to press and came close to doubling their lead moments later, Marco Stiepermann surging forward and cutting in onto his left foot before rifling just wide from the edge of the area.

Norwich had little trouble getting to half time with their lead intact, but Wolfsburg - who changed their entire starting XI at the break - were more of a threat after the restart.

The Germans twice came close to levelling proceedings, with Marvin Stefaniak heading straight at Michael McGovern and Riechedly Bazoer dispossessing Trybull but failing to make the most of the opportunity.

Just as it looked like Norwich were going to hold out, a free kick was nodded across the face of goal and nodded home by Josuha Guilavogui with 10 minutes left on the clock.

Daniel Farke's squad will remain at their training base on Friday before flying back to England for upcoming friendlies against Luton Town and Charlton Athletic ahead of the Championship kickoff at Birmingham City on August 4.
