Norwich City seal Championship playoff final spot

Norwich City reach the Championship playoff final after defeating Ipswich Town in the semi-final second leg.

The first chance at Carrow Road fell to the visitors when Daryl Murphy headed over following Kevin Bru's cross.

Russell Martin struck a low shot towards the bottom corner of the Ipswich goal, but Paul Anderson was on hand to clear off the line.

It was a nervy opening 45 minutes in the derby, and few telling chances were created as the half passed by.

With under five minutes left of the first half, Jonny Howson's shot was blocked by Tyrone Mings.

The game sparked into life after the break, with Norwich awarded a penalty and Christophe Berra sent off after using his arm to block Nathan Redmond's goalbound effort.

Wes Hoolahan scored from the resulting spot kick to give the Canaries the lead, sending Bartosz Bialkowski the wrong way.

However, despite going down to 10 men, Ipswich responded well and were level after Tommy Smith's close-range strike.

The home side restored their lead through Redmond, with the winger's effort going under keeper Bialkowski.

Cameron Jerome increased their advantage with his 20th goal of the season, poking the ball home after Redmond played him through.

Redmond could have made it four for Norwich, but Mings raced back to dispossess him and put the ball out for a corner.

Norwich saw out the remainder of the game, and will play Middlesbrough next Monday at Wembley for a place in the Premier League next season.
