David McNally: 'Bradley Johnson rejected Premier League clubs'

Bradley Johnson rejected a move to the Premier League last summer, according to Norwich City's chief executive David McNally.

Chief executive David McNally has revealed that Bradley Johnson turned down interest from a handful of Premier League clubs during the summer to remain at Norwich City.

Yesterday, the Canaries confirmed that the midfielder had signed a new contract to remain at Carrow Road until 2018.

However, McNally has claimed that following Norwich's relegation to the Championship at the end of last season, Johnson had the opportunity to remain in the top flight.

"It has taken a while but we were always keen and he was always keen. Bradley epitomises everything great about this football club for me," he told the Eastern Daily Press.

"In the summer there were never any issues about rolling his sleeves up and battling for Norwich City, despite the opportunity to go to probably three or four Premier League clubs, but there was not a murmur out of him.

"He made it clear he wants to get back to the Premier League with Norwich City and I think you can see that with his attitude and commitment on the pitch. He has been one of our best players this year."

Johnson arrived in Norfolk back in 2011 from Leeds United.
