Sunderland will reportedly offer Grant Holt a way out of Norwich City after the striker handed in a transfer request at Carrow Road.
The 31-year-old surprised the Canaries hierarchy by asking to leave the club shortly after helping them to a 12th-place finish on their return to the Premier League.
Norwich immediately rejected his request but Holt is still keen for a move away and is set to hold talks with chief executive David McNally on Tuesday.
This has alerted the attention of Sunderland, who are looking for a replacement for loan star Nicklas Bendtner following the Dane's return to parent club Arsenal.
Holt scored 17 goals in 38 appearances for Paul Lambert's side this campaign.
