Norwich City have reached an agreement with Steven Whittaker over a new contract.
The defender's previous deal at Carrow Road had been due to expire at the end of next month.
However, the 31-year-old has now committed himself to the relegated Canaries for another 12 months.
"I'm over the moon to stay here, I've really enjoyed my four years," he told the club's official website.
"The manager spoke to me towards the end of the season and said it was a frustrating season for myself, but he reminded me what a great job I'd done for him in the Championship and he believes I can do that again.
"I'm here, in the squad and ready to get to work again to battle for my place."
Whittaker's fresh terms contain the option for Norwich to trigger another one-year extension.
