Half-Time Report: Nottingham Forest, Charlton Athletic goalless at the break

Charlton Athletic and Nottingham Forest remain level at the break following a goalless first half at the City Ground.

Nottingham Forest and Charlton Athletic have shared a goalless first half at the City Ground, despite both sides creating chances in their Championship meeting.

Forest put the visitors under pressure from the start as Chris Burke curled a shot just over the crossbar inside the opening five minutes, before a vicious 30-yard strike from Henri Lansbury finished just wide.

Nick Pope was kept busy by the home side as Dexter Blackstock quickly set up Burke for his second chance of the night, while Jamie Ward attempted a low strike from near the penalty spot, but the young keeper kept them both out.

Charlton had to wait 20 minutes for their first clear-cut chance of the evening, which came when Matt Mills had to head a dangerous-looking cross from Johann Berg Gudmundsson behind, allowing Simon Makienok a header from the resulting corner, which he could not keep down.

The visitors continued to look more dangerous as the period progressed, but Makienok headed over again after Cristian Ceballos picked him out with a cross from out wide, before Gudmundsson curled a free kick from the edge of the box just wide of the top corner.
