Nottingham Forest have reportedly stepped up their efforts to acquire the services of a new midfielder before the end of the summer transfer window.
Nuno Espirito Santo went into the first Premier League game of the season against Bournemouth with five central-midfielders at his disposal.
However, that has since dropped to four with Danilo having suffered a broken ankle, the Brazilian having subsequently been ruled out in the long term.
As a result, it has become clear that the East Midlands outfit have re-entered the market to bolster their options in that area of the pitch, Nuno seemingly determined to bring in a statement name.
Earlier this week, a report credited Forest with holding an interest in England international James Ward-Prowse, who is seemingly available to depart West Ham United for the right price.
Nevertheless, it appears that Ward-Prowse is not the only alternative to Danilo on their radar with an Italy Under-21 international also on their radar.

Bove on the move?
According to Calciomercato, Forest have formally registered an interest in bringing in Roma midfielder Edoardo Bove.
The report suggests that Forest are in 'hot negotiations' for a player who is not deemed to be in the plans of Daniele De Rossi.
Even as Roma struggled during their opening two Serie A fixtures of the campaign, the 22-year-old remained as an unused substitute.
Bove, a homegrown talent, also found himself in and out of the starting lineup once De Rossi replaced Jose Mourinho for the second half of 2023-24.

What fee may Forest have to pay?
Roma are allegedly keen to recoup in the region of €15m (£12.6m) for a player who has made 92 appearances since progressing through the academy setup.
From Forest's perspective, it is claimed that they value Bove at €12m (£10.1m), with both clubs potentially needing to reach a compromise if they want a deal to go through.
While there is no indication as to whether Bove would entertain a transfer to the City Ground, the report adds that he has been informed that he is free to leave for the right price.
