Notts County will renew their interest in Nottingham Forest defender Kieron Freeman following Sean O'Driscoll's appointment as manager.
After an impressive loan spell at Meadow Lane during the last campaign, the Magpies enquired about Freeman's availability again.
However, with the Reds' new owners replacing Steve Cotterill with O'Driscoll, the proposed deal is now uncertain.
It is thought that the Wales Under-21s international will get the chance to impress his new boss before a decision is made. Notts County boss Keith Curle will keep monitoring the youngster's situation.
"He is a player who came in and did very well for us," said Curle.
"We enquired about him earlier in the summer. I spoke to Steve Cotterill and asked about Kieron and he said he would be reporting back to Forest for him to look at and see if he thought he could play in the Championship now.
"I'm sure the situation now is that the new manager Sean will be looking at all of the players he has got in his squad. Hopefully Kieron doesn't do very well!"
The 20-year-old is the youngest player to have represented all three professional Nottinghamshire clubs.
