Former Notts County coaches Brett Adams and Lee Broster have been accused of racially abusing black members of the club's youth team.

A statement released by the Magpies on Friday announced their departures, but did not allude to why the pair had tendered their resignations.

"Brett Adams and Lee Broster have resigned from their positions at the club as youth coach and lead foundation coach respectively," read the statement.

"We thank them for their service and wish them every success for the future."

The club launched a full investigation into the claims, which were made by two players last month and backed up by several of their teammates.

According to The Mirror, Adams is alleged to have thrown a banana with "fuck off" written on it to a black player, before telling him to "fuck off and eat it".

Meanwhile, it has been claimed that Broster walked into a changing room while the players were listening to rap music and said: "No wonder you black lads always go around stabbing people when you listen to music like that".

Another allegation details him walking into a room and switching off a light before saying: "Make sure you black lads smile so I can see you".

In a meeting with the club's human resource manager, one of the players is believed to have expressed concerns that speaking out would see him released from his contract.
