Lee Johnson bemoans "mediocre" Oldham Athletic

Oldham Athletic boss Lee Johnson admits that his side played below their usual standard during their 1-0 defeat to Barnsley.

Oldham Athletic boss Lee Johnson has admitted that his team were "very mediocre" during Tuesday's defeat to Barnsley.

The Latics saw their promotion hopes in League One dented at Oakwell last night as they were beaten 1-0 by the Tykes.

"It was very mediocre," Johnson is quoted as saying by Sky Sports News. "The goal was disappointing from our point of view because it was their only really decent chance in the game.

"It was an edgy game, played on not a great pitch, which was not conducive to good football. It was a game of very few chances. I am disappointed because we've had a good week. It seems that we just can't go the extra mile whenever we need to pull out a result to get us somewhere."

Oldham are back in action on Saturday when they make the trip to Scunthorpe United in the league.
