Johnson takes charge of Oldham

Lee Johnson has been named the new manager of League One side Oldham Athletic.

The 31-year-old, who has become the youngest boss in the Football League, has been described as the "outstanding candidate from 120 applicants" on the club's official website.

It his first job in management, having made 468 appearances during a playing career that took him to a number of teams, including Hearts, Bristol City and Yeovil.

Johnson will take charge of the Latics for the first time tomorrow evening when fellow strugglers Hartlepool United visit Boundary Park.

Another fixture of note is Oldham's home encounter against Yeovil on Tuesday, April 16. The Glovers are currently managed by Johnson's father, Gary.
