Oxford United midfielder Andy Whing signs a new three-year contract with the club.

A statement on Oxford United's official website has confirmed that Andy Whing has signed a new three-year contract with the club.

The 28-year-old, who has previously played for Coventry City, Brighton & Hove Albion and Leyton Orient, joined the U's in the summer of 2011.

"Oxford United are pleased to announce the signing of fans' favourite Andy Whing on a new long-term deal," read the statement.

Whing added: "It's good to sign and to get things sorted and now it's all about coming back for pre-season ready to go.

"The whole club is set up for success and as players we have a real determination to make that happen in the coming season. The fans are brilliant and there is a lot to look forward to here."

Whing has made 62 league appearances for Oxford.
