Preview: Pacos de Ferreira vs. Porto - prediction, team news, lineups

Sports Mole previews Sunday's Primeira Liga clash between Pacos de Ferreira and Porto, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

Primeira Liga leaders Porto will seek to take another step towards glory when they visit Estadio da Capital do Movel on Sunday to face off against Pacos de Ferreira.

Meanwhile, the home side are looking to pick up three consecutive wins for the first time this season and exact revenge for a 2-1 defeat in October's reverse fixture.

Pacos de Ferreira made it two wins from two as they saw off the threat of Belenenses in a comfortable 2-0 triumph at the Estadio Nacional do Jamor on Friday.

Denilson's penalty on the stroke of half time set Cesar Peixoto's men on their way to all three points before Helder Ferreira made sure of the result just past the hour mark.

As a result, the Beavers have now moved to 10th place in the Primeira Liga standings and are now seven points clear of the relegation zone with 10 matches left to play.

Only three teams in the entire division have scored fewer goals on home turf than Pacos de Ferreira who have managed just 14 points from 12 home games this season.

On the other hand, Porto are now 90 minutes away from reaching the Taca de Portugal final following a 2-1 first-leg victory over Sporting Lisbon at the Estadio Jose Alvalade last Wednesday.

Sergio Conceicao's men trailed to Pablo Sarabia's 49th-minute strike before hitting back and turning the tie on its head through quick-fire goals from Mehdi Taremi and Evanilson.

Prior to that, the Dragoes were held to a 1-1 draw by Gil Vicente last Sunday but their six-point lead at the top of the league standings remains intact.

Porto will feel confident of coming away with the desired result on Sunday as next up is a clash against an opposing side who have lost five of the last six meetings between the teams dating back to 2019.

With a mouth-watering Europa League clash versus Lyon on the horizon, a victory this weekend would do the world of good for Sunday's visitors heading into their continental commitment.

Team News

Otavio and Pepe had to make do with cameo appearances in midweek but both players are expected to be recalled to the starting XI for this one.

Following his winner in the aforementioned game, Evanilson has now scored three times in his last four matches and is one to keep an eye on.

Defender Wilson Manafa is set to continue his lengthy spell on the sidelines due to a leg injury which he picked up last December.

Ndri Koffi remains ruled out with a muscle injury and the Frenchman is joined on Pacos' treatment table by Jorge Silva and Flavio.

Twenty-six-year-old Joao Vigario still awaits his first outing of the current campaign as he is currently nursing a knee problem.

Pacos de Ferreira possible starting lineup:
Ferreira; Antunes, Maracas, Baixinho, Delgado; Carlos, Pires; Silva, Uilton, Santos; Denilson

Porto possible starting lineup:
D Costa; B Costa, Pepe, Mbemba, Sanusi; Vitinha, Uribe, Otavio, Pepe; Evanilson, Martinez

SM words green background

We say: Pacos de Ferreira 1-3 Porto

Porto are still yet to taste defeat in league action this term, highlighting how solid they have been at both ends of the pitch. We fancy them to come away with all three points at the sound of the final whistle.
