A last-gasp penalty has handed Brechin City a 2-2 draw with Peterhead in Scottish League One this evening, having overcome a two-goal deficit.
Brechin had a couple of chances to open the scoring when Paul McLean tried his luck from the edge of the box, while a header from the striker went high and wide moments later.
The hosts continued to look the more likely in the first half as Gary Fusco carved his way into the box before firing wide, while another McLean effort was tipped behind.
However, it was the visitors who opened the scoring when Cameron Kerr crossed the ball in to set Gary McDonald up for a header from close range.
It took Peterhead just a couple of minutes to double their advantage as Steven Noble rifled the ball home from 20 yards out, picking out the bottom corner.
Brechin kept themselves in contention though, as Bobby Barr played a through-ball in for Colin Hamilton to tap in shortly before half time.
The hosts were almost back on level terms just a few minutes into the second half as Barr had a shot of his own from close range, but his finish was saved, while Andy Jackson's low strike was blocked a minute later.
Nicky Riley tried to restore Peterhead's two-goal cushion with a strike from out wide, but Graeme Smith managed to tip the sliced effort behind.
Brechin were handed a lifeline in stoppage time though when Scott Ross collided with Darren McCormack in the box, giving away a penalty.
Barr stepped up to take the spot kick, and blasted it into the top left corner as the keeper went in the opposite direction to salvage a draw for the hosts.
The result keeps Brechin in the playoff places, while Peterhead sit sixth in the table.
