Last-gasp Kennedy Igboananike strike saves Chicago Fire in six-goal thriller

Kennedy Igboananike rescues Chicago Fire a point with a 92nd-minute equaliser in the 3-3 draw away to Philadelphia Union.

Kennedy Igboananike struck a 92nd-minute equaliser as Chicago Fire earned a 3-3 draw away to Philadelphia Union at PPL Park this morning.

Second-half substitute Sebastien Le Toux looked to have settled a see-saw encounter when he fired home on 90 minutes, but Igboananike netted his second of the clash in timely fashion to rescue a point from their six-goal thriller.

The visitors enjoyed a fast-and-furious start and went ahead inside 10 minutes when Patrick Nyarko's cross was converted from close range by Igboananike.

However, Union levelled on 21 minutes, with Fernando Aristeguieta thrashing home Cristian Maidana's corner to restore parity.

The hosts completed the turnaround on the half-hour mark, with Maidana the architect again as he set up Fabinho, who thumped a fierce effort past Sean Johnson from an acute angle.

Maidana almost had a hat-trick of assists five minutes before the break, but Aristeguieta failed to keep his header below the bar.

It proved a costly miss as Nyarko levelled up on 55 minutes by sweeping home Igboananike's teasing cross from six yards out in what seemed the last action.

However, Le Toux bent his effort beyond the reach of Johnson as a dramatic victory beckoned, only for Igboananike to fire home a Mike Magee cross in the closing stages to snatch a point.
