The pick of the second-round ties in this year's Johnstone's Paint Trophy is a South-West derby as Plymouth Argyle take on Exeter City.
The two sides are both in League Two, and Exeter will hope to end a two-game losing streak against their rivals next month.
Elsewhere, Sheffield United host Notts County and Wigan Athletic travel to 2013 champions Crewe Alexandra.
Neither of last year's finalists were present in the draw, with Bristol City not in the competition having been promoted to the Championship and League One leaders Walsall knocked out in the first round by Morecambe.
Ties will be played the week commencing October 5.
