Pontypridd Town AFC player-manager Dominic Broad has revealed his pride after seeing his team compete against Valencia on Tuesday evening.
The Welsh League Division Three team suffered a 3-0 defeat away at the La Liga giants, who fielded a youthful lineup, but Broad was impressed with the way that his team coped with facing some of Spain's most promising youth players.
Broad told the club's official website: "It's a once in a lifetime opportunity for most of us to line up against one of the biggest clubs in the world and I actually thought that the game went well. We thoroughly enjoyed it. We reduced their attacking options and condensed the space in central areas. We are hugely proud of the effort of every single person.
"The whole trip has been absolutely phenomenal. It has been an incredible achievement by all involved with promotion through talkSPORT and a huge thanks to Wickes who have made all of this happen.
"All of the media attention that we have had has been unbelievable and this is something that will live long in the memory."
Sergio Ayala, Fernando Cano and Pinnero Ebwelle got on the scoresheet for Valencia.
