The Portland Timbers have extended their club-record unbeaten run to nine games with a comfortable home victory over struggling Chivas USA.
Portland attacked from the outset as Darlington Nagbe and Diego Valeri both threatened with efforts from close range.
Ryan Johnson also had a header saved before Portland's pressure finally told 10 minutes before the interval.
Rodney Wallace made the breakthrough, latching onto a through-ball from Johnson before guiding home with an assured left-footed finish.
Steve Purdy came close to an immediate response for Chivas as his header was tipped wide as it floated towards the top corner.
Twenty minutes from time the Timbers secured all three points as Diego Valeri met a cross from Wallace to send a low finish safely into the bottom corner.
Just shy of stoppage time Portland added gloss to the scoreline as Canadian midfielder Will Johnson smashed home with a drive from distance.
Martin Ponce spurned a late opportunity to get Chivas a consolation as the visitors' winless streak extended to five matches.
