Cristiano Ronaldo breaks records with four-goal haul against Lithuania

Cristiano Ronaldo's four-goal haul against Lithuania makes him the top scorer in Euro qualifying history and the second-highest ever goalscorer at international level.

Cristiano Ronaldo broke two international records with his four-goal haul against Lithuania on Tuesday night.

The Juventus superstar opened the scoring from the spot in the seventh minute before grabbing three second-half goals as Portugal ran out 5-1 winners.

Vytautas Andriuskevicius equalised for the hosts in the first half before Ronaldo restored the lead just after the hour mark, while William Carvalho added a stoppage-time strike.

Ronaldo's impressive tally sees him become the first European player to reach 90 international goals, second only to Iran's Ali Daei, who amassed 109 strikes for his country.

The Portugal captain also moved clear of Robbie Keane as the highest scorer in Euro qualifying history, with 24 goals to the Irishman's 23.

Additionally, it was the 40th international side Ronaldo has scored against and his 54th career hat-trick for club and country.
