Saturday's Championship predictions including Oxford United vs. West Brom

Sports Mole provides score predictions and previews for all of today's Championship fixtures, including Oxford United vs. West Bromwich Albion.

Cardiff vs. Plymouth (Saturday, 12.30pm)

Cardiff City play host to Plymouth Argyle on Saturday afternoon looking for the win that may take them off the bottom of the Championship standings.

At a time when the Bluebirds are propping up the division, Plymouth sit in 14th position after a positive start under Wayne Rooney.

We say: Cardiff City 2-1 Plymouth Argyle

With Plymouth improving under Rooney, they will back themselves to earn at least a share of the spoils in South Wales. However, we are backing the home side to come through a competitive fixture, pushing hard in the latter stages to secure the three points.

Luton vs. Watford (Saturday, 12.30pm)

Luton Town and Watford renew their rivalry on Saturday afternoon with a showdown at Kenilworth Road.

At a time when the Hatters sit in 21st position in the Championship standings, the Hornets occupy a place in the playoffs.

We say: Luton Town 2-1 Watford

While Watford may be enjoying a strong start under Cleverley, we cannot ignore their form away from Vicarage Road. With that in mind, Luton could edge this contest by the odd goal in three, kick-starting their campaign and relieving some pressure on Edwards in the process.

Oxford Utd vs. West Brom (Saturday, 12.30pm)

Aiming to stretch their unbeaten run in the second tier to four matches, newly-promoted Oxford United will welcome Premier League-chasing West Bromwich Albion to the Kassam Stadium on Saturday afternoon in the Championship.

The U's recorded a share of the spoils at the home of Portsmouth prior to the international pause, whilst the Baggies were frustratingly held by Millwall at The Hawthorns.

We say: Oxford United 2-2 West Bromwich Albion

Unbeaten at home in the Championship so far, Oxford will not be afraid of promotion contenders West Brom, who are heading into this contest following a string of poor results.

We are expecting plenty of goals at the Kassam Stadium, with the U's and the Baggies eventually settling for a share of the second-tier spoils.

Preston vs. Coventry (Saturday, 12.30pm)

Looking to extend their unbeaten run in the second tier to three matches, Preston North End will host a struggling Coventry City side at Deepdale on Saturday afternoon in the Championship.

The Lilywhites recorded a respectable point at Turf Moor versus Burnley prior to the international break, whilst the Sky Blues fell to defeat at the hands of Sheffield Wednesday in the East Midlands.

We say: Preston North End 1-0 Coventry City

Preston enjoyed a productive start to October prior to the international break and should be confident of continuing their positive momentum this weekend.

Coventry are yet to earn a Championship win on the road this season, and we do not expect the out-of-form Sky Blues to halt that winless run in Lancashire.

Blackburn vs. Swansea (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Blackburn Rovers play host to Swansea City on Saturday afternoon looking to end a run of two successive defeats.

At a time when Rovers sit in eighth position in the Championship standings, the visitors to Ewood Park are down in 11th spot.

We say: Blackburn Rovers 1-1 Swansea City

With the international break having arrived at the right time for Blackburn, there is every chance that they could get back on track here. However, Swansea are one of the more impressive defensive outfits in the division, leading us to predict a hard-earned point for Williams' side.

Middlesbrough vs. Bristol City (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Middlesbrough play host to Bristol City on Saturday afternoon looking to build on sitting in ninth position in the Championship standings.

Meanwhile, the visitors to the Riverside Stadium are down in 16th place, despite putting together a run of games without defeat before the October international break.

We say: Middlesbrough 1-0 Bristol City

This game may not prove to be a classic given the improvements that Bristol City have recently made in defence. However, we are still backing Boro to get over the line in a tight contest, potentially with a clean sheet in the process.

Millwall vs. Derby (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Ready to battle for second-tier honours after October's international break, Millwall and Derby County will clash at The Den in the Championship on Saturday afternoon.

The Lions secured a share of the spoils at West Bromwich Albion prior to the two-week pause, whilst the Rams picked up another home victory at the expense of Queens Park Rangers.

We say: Millwall 1-0 Derby County

With two matches in the space of five days at The Den on the horizon, Millwall should be raring to record back-to-back wins, starting with victory over newly-promoted Derby this weekend.

The Rams have been very weak on their Championship travels so far and are set to struggle in the capital at a hostile venue on Saturday afternoon.

QPR vs. Portsmouth (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Queens Park Rangers manager Marti Cifuentes on August 30, 2024© Imago

Portsmouth will look to end their wait for their first win of the season when they face Queens Park Rangers in Saturday's Championship clash at Loftus Road.

The hosts will also be desperate to claim all three points after failing to win any of their last five Championship matches.

We say: Queens Park Rangers 1-1 Portsmouth

QPR and Portsmouth are separated by just two points in the table, and with teams low on confidence after their poor run of results, we think the two sides could cancel one another out in a cagey contest at Loftus Road.

Sheff Weds vs. Burnley (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Danny Rohl,Sheffield Wednesday manager on August 23, 2024© Imago

Aiming to move to the top of the Championship table on their return from the international break, Burnley will travel to Hillsborough to take on Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday.

The visitors sit a point outside of the top two after nine league outings, while their hosts climbed to 15th spot with an upturn in form before the break.

We say: Sheffield Wednesday 1-1 Burnley

Despite their lofty league position, Burnley are yet to truly kick into gear under Scott Parker, particularly going forward having only scored five goals in their last seven games.

Their lack of fluidity, combined with the hosts' gain in momentum before the break, leads us to anticipate a draw at Hillsborough.

Stoke vs. Norwich (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Stoke City manager Narcis Pelach on September 20, 2024© Imago

Stoke City play host to Norwich City on Saturday afternoon with head coach Narcis Pelach being reunited with his former club.

At a time when the Potters sit in 17th position in the Championship standings, the Canaries are seventh after an impressive run of form before the October international break.

We say: Stoke City 2-2 Norwich City

With Stoke gradually improving under Pelach, this should make for an entertaining game. However, Norwich have really hit their stride in the final third and we can see a high-scoring draw being played out between two sides who want to play attacking football.
