Thiago Motta hails "important" Paris Saint-Germain victory

Thiago Motta says that Paris Saint-Germain's set-piece training is paying off following their win over Olympiacos in the Champions League.

Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Thiago Motta has paid tribute to his side's Champions League victory over Olympiacos on Tuesday.

The Italian international twice headed home from a corner to help the Ligue 1 giants to a 4-1 win in Athens in their Group C opener.

Three of PSG's four goals came from set pieces, and Motta has revealed that they have been working hard on them in training.

"These are three very important points for us in our first game," Motta told reporters.

"We were lacking in intensity in the first half and a little off the pace but we recovered well and produced a very good second half with important goals.

"It is no coincidence that our set plays are working well. We have been working hard on them in training and it's great to see the result of that. There is a bit of luck involved as well, obviously, but this time things worked for us."

PSG host league leaders AS Monaco at Parc des Princes on Sunday.
